In 1930, an enigmatic figure appeared in Detroit, Michigan. C. Eric Lincoln, in his study of the Nation of Islam called Black Muslims in America, says of "The Stranger in Detroit":

"Sometime in the midsummer of 1930, an amiable but faintly mysterious peddler appeared in the black ghetto of Detroit. He was thought to be an Arab, although his racial and national identity still remains undocumented...No one knew very much about the founder of this first temple (in Detroit). Usually he referred to himself as Mr. Farrad Mohammad or Mr. F. Mohammad Ali. He was also known as PROFESSOR Ford, Mr. Wali Farrad and W.D. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad

Nearly three decades after President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was born on or about Oct. 7, 1897.   Mr. Muhammad was born the 7th child of 12 to William (later named Wali) and Marie Poole, in Sandersville, Ga.  Due to poor record keeping by government officials, the exact date of his birth remains unknown, according to historians and family members. Nevertheless, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said his birth took place some time between the first or second week of October 1897 and established Oct. 7 as the anniversary date of his birth....Continue

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

Clarence 13X ( Father Allah )
"Father Allah" was born Clarence Smith on Friday February 22, 1928 in Danville, Virginia. His parents (Louis and Mary) gave birth to seven children, six boys and one girl, of which he was the fifth son. As a baby his mother affectionately named him 'Put' and this is what he was called throughout his childhood years.

In the 1940's Allah's mother moved to New York to seek employment. Arriving in New York she settled in Harlem, where she rented an apartment. In 1946 Allah came to North to join his mother and older brother. Once in New York his nickname "put" was mistaken for "Puddin", and this is what he would be known as.

Not long after arriving in New York, Allah would meet a beautiful young lady by the name of Willieen Jowars with whom he would produce two sons, A-Allah and Be-Allah...Continue
